Remberances of things past.

My most fond memory of gnet isnt playing MnD its playing Sailor Moon.
Oddly enough I don't have ANY screen shots of it. I remember way back NinjaX and TuxedoRainbow were working hard to get it online and running, we had up to 4 players once... not a large croud. Toward the end of it, TuxedoRainbow was going to make a new set that never saw the light of day. Some ages latter Bugladden was going to work with me to fix the bugs that Sailor Moon still had in it.. but that never happened, I guess the chap was busy with other matters. But I had my most powerfull decks there, easy going-decks, and I taught alot of people to play, and had a bunch of great games.

I also remember fondly when Bugladden desided to do an Testomy of Jabob Smith event on Easter Weekend, of all things- this wonderfull post was blown up when the fourms changed, so I cant retrive what our reactions were, sufice it to say the game was haunted, I got /canceled and somehow lost instantly, and much laughs were had.

Touring: Net Runner.

Oh how meny times did I play Net Runner just because it was being toured?! I knew that game pretty well after all the plays I had. The chat was always fun, and the game, ahh it was okay. But the compiny was fun.

HAMSTERS EAT THE UNIVERSE!! @_@

CapAp, what a guy, he has some off hand comment about hamsters and someone whos name shall not be said desides to use his powers and change CapAp's stuff to say Hamsters, CapAp left for quite some time after that, I missed him and was glad when he returned, and much hamster jokes insued after that.

Relcis Mal, Relics.

Mal, a good mnd friend loved the watery regon of .. Orthy is that right spelling? Nah, screw it.. anyway- so relics yep. He had them, but when a custom set came out that had a creature that gave you engery FOR the relics you had, yep I used it, and used a zillon relics. After getting like 100+ engery I just said "Relics Mal, Relics." He regreted not having enough relic hate in his deck. The creature was soon fixed.

Super Tony Gets his balls cut off.

Not my fondest memory to be sure, Super Tony was the most fun deck I had ever built, perhaps I should have just keeped my typing fingers quiet... but no I had to say "Thanks" to Nov for Bog Pit. We then played a game (screen shot of said game in prevous post) -- and the very next day or so, Boom, Bog Pit is totaly nettered JUST to deny Tony... why? Becuase it would hurt new players or some BS that everyone EVERYONE knew was not true, even a poll was held and not changing this relic won, although not alot of people voted... in fact the fourms were pretty dead by this time... and that takes me back....

Before the fourms exploded...

Ahhh man we had so meny great posts, alot of game reports, play testing, tourments, tokens... those were the days. Back when playing a game ment spending real life money or waiting awhile before you got your free 4 tokens or whatever it was... The fourms were wonderfull, and we had a bunch of mnd players, as well as Sailor Moon, etc etc etc.. I played like - almost every game on gent back then... it was a golden age.

First finding gnet, before customs!?

Wow. Wayyyy back then, meeting Mal, CapAp, Bobbydoc, Nov, Bugladden, TuxedoRainbow.. .and all the rest.. I think I first found gnet from TuxedoRainbow who was from some chatroom about sailor moon or something... talking about getting that thing on gnet along with NinjaX whom I also kinda knew. Back then things were just starting and hope for new sets, games with new friends and lots of fun was ahead of us.

....

Now we are here, and I guess the saying is true "All good things come to an end."
Well, maybe not "all good things" There is alot of games still to be played out there online I'm sure, perhaps gnet will see a revival, maybe we will have tokens agian, maybe gnets done. I dont know. I've got other things to look forward to, a new hope of a new game with a friend or two maybe comming along for the ride.

Well, who knows what this blog might become then... untill next time. Take care!

Ahhh, memorys and lots of screen shots!

Some screen shots from games gone by. Woot.

The end of MND (on gnet) (and more?)

Well, those wacky kids at 2i or "Interactive Imagination Corporation" made a cartoon, that isnt much like the gameboy-stroy, but its PRETTYYYY close, for you know, a water-downed Pokemon cloan. I meen the kids summon the pets from stones, train them, put them back in the stones... honestly, if it had still been rings, etc etc .. and if the darn creatures DID NOT TALK and if the bad guys were really evil, well heck then it would be good. But wahtever.. now they have summoned the dreaded of all creatures, THE C&D. Pretty much this is because they are going to relice a version of magi nation, looking at the offical web page, and the "cards" they show there this version is going to be watered down and targeted at kids who like the cartoon.. Its most likely going to be a Pokemon cloan, and might have some mechanics we know, like engerize, but -- I just don't see it happening. So why the fuss? Wouldn't it be BETTER to alow Gnet to contune its fanbase, bringing more people INTO the game? Nope. That would make WAY to much sence.
Now I speak from experance, lets flash back to some other game:
MAGE KNIGHT.
Oh hows that relate? Well, check this out, Mage Knight was a super-popular game that (like magi nation) was easy to pick up, orginal, and fun. Like Magi Nation it died, but it did so under its own stupid rull changes/figure changes etc.
Magi Nations lived with just 4 sets for years now, and online fan base with more sets addded, the fans really put in alot of effort to see some really good (and bad) cards come out. Now all there efforts are to waste, becuse its gone.

Now Magi Nation stands where Mage Knight did, at a turning point, they have revenue from the show bringing in much neaded money, but in-place of using the pre-existing gamer fan base they want to interduce a whole new generation to the game! YAY!
Make Knight tryed to do this with 2.0 and died almost instantly there-after, although the compiny itself made due with other products, 2i does not HAVE any back up, this is it boys its MND or dust.

Personaly I'd rather just as see the new card game come out with one, maybe 2 sets, utterly crap out, and be alowed to be played online agian, OR EVEN BETTER.. if 2i is SMART they could buy gnet and the rights to the program, have MND (orginal) on there (for free since its not ever going to be out) and then the new one you pay something to play, just like MtG online.. but hey that would make a lot of sence... alow the players to keep making new cards for the old stuff.

But.. wait, again they want everyone to forget the past becuase the new stuff is going to suck so much, just you wait. I made a prodiction about the cartoon ages ago: Its going to spell the end of MnD. So maybe the fans will get back the rights to play it online, but more then likely the 2i crew will seal the rights (just like Mage Knight did, not alowing any fan-base to keep it alive officaly) -- just to protect there properity. The only hope then would be that some other compiny buy them out, maybe Wizards or Desipher, that engerize mechanic would be really good to buy, that mechanic is what MAKES MnD so awesome; and you can't just slap that on a card, its copyright -- maybe you could but you'd have to rename it and all that, I'm not sure where the laws are drawn there, but buying out the compiny would work.

Anyway, so Mnd is gone from Gnet. And possible gone for good soon, I expect if and I do say IF they make a new card game (they probley will) it will last 1-2 sets and then fold.

Well, it was fun. And we will always have memorys of good times and bad hamsters on gnet.
